I had to repeat the phase 4 times till I had ONLY the next errors:

The 5th time I did choose "ACCEPT".
Unfortunately every repeat did take 4.5 hours, but it is very wise to do.
This was also a EHP7 upgrade (comming from EHP5) with the latest SPS (EHP7 SPS11)

1. You have to refer the SAP Upgrade guide. from SAP link (Require SAP S-user id). Select the OS / DB SAP NetWeaver Guide Finder
Refer the SAP Note for inter connected SAP systems
1388258 - Version Interoperability between SAP Business Suite and SAP NetWeaver Systems
2. If possible create the Sandbox system from Production or development system. start the upgrade in Sandbox system check the what are the issues which your are going to face.

SUM 16 best runs in IE 10 and above, and also you need to update the JAVA to the latest version.
To start SUM,
Follow the below steps.
1. Go to location of SUM
2. With root user Run command ./STARTUP confighostagent <SID>
3. Open internet explorer on terminal server
4. Then https://<hostname>:1129/lmsl/sumabap/<SID>/doc/sluigui
5. It will give you logged in screen. Log in as user SIDADM
6. You will be able to start SUM.

We are in the middle of s4HANA conversion 1511 on premise edition. We are facing issues in execution phase
Severe error(s) occurred in phase MAIN_NEWBAS/PARRUN_FILL_EXTRACT_S4!

I checked Default profile for DIR_TRANS and DIR_PUt , both pointing to ../../SUM/abap directory only.

Re: Change Secondary language to English
I know this is an old thread. Just adding so that it can be useful for others. After system restart, you may need to run program RSLANG20 with specific language as background job. This is like clearing the language text buffer (for specific language) after the parameter we changed and reimport in the correct secondary language. (Reference OSS note 110910 - Deleting the language load).
Also, you may need to run /$CUA and /$DYN also as per the same OSS note.
