Dear Desire,
Kindly follow the below steps
- Copy the original profile files to some other directory
- Remove the parameter abap/buffersize from the start profile.
- Remove the #********************************# entries from all the profile.
You will see the design in the beginning of each instance profile.
So remove them.
It will resolve your issue.

Hi Desiree,
You to remove all the parameter With # and also you have to check for extra spaces in the file.
is your operating system is window?
With Regards
Ashutosh Chaturvedi
Yes my OS is Windows 2008 R2.
But i have remove the all # in the file dir profile: D:\usr\sap\PRD\SYS\profile ?????
Hi Desiree,
Yes, you have to remove them but keep a backup of the original profile.
In windows , generally this issue use to come and sometimes you have to remove the extra spaces in the profile files to overcome the issue.

Hello Sriram,
what do mean with "IBM-i Physical system name"? How to change the hostanme of your newly cloned machine or how to set the SAP system to use this new hostname?
As Mirra points out, SWPM can rename SID and hostnames for your SAP system.

Luis
Hi,
I am dooing an migration/upgrade from ERP 5.0 on AIX Oracle to ERP 6.0 EHP 6 on Windows.
I did the migration from AIX Oralce to Windows 2003 MSSQL 2005 and now I need to upgrade to ERP 6.0 EHP 6.
SUM says that the OS (2003) and DB (2005) is not supported so my question is, how do I continue as ERP 5.0 is only supported on Windows 2003 MSSQL 2005.
Can I make a system copy (database backup/restore) to Windows 2008 MSSQL 2008 and with what tool.
What is the path?
Dear experts,
We are now planning the upgrade from the ECC 6.0 EnhP 4 for HCM version to the newest ECC 6.0 EnhP 7 for HCM / HR Renewal 2.0.
As soon as our Development (DEV) environment is upgraded, we will put in place a backup of DEV (DEB) in order to support potential incidents in Productioin that cannot wait the Upgrade timelines.
If this happens, the process would be:
- Implement the fix in DEB and deploy the fix to the next system in same version.
- Reproduce the fix in DEV and deploy the fix to the latest system upgraded.
In practice this means a dual maintenance that increase significantly the cost during the upgrade period.
Having said the above, would you be so nice to support me in questions below:
I've trying to find a "Best practices" document in SAP site with strategies supported by SAP during this Upgrade periods, but did not find anything.
Thanks all in advance for your feedback.
Best regards
Refer to the SUM guide.
For example https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012002523100015863912015E
Refer to chapter 3.1, pp 24.
Hi Torben.
I think you upgrade takes places in three different steps.
1. From the current version to SAP ECC 6.0 with NW 7.0 SP level 14 & above.(NW 7.0 SR3)(On Windows 2003 with MS Sql 2005)
2. Upgrade the OS / DB to Windows 2008 R2 with MS Sql 2008 R2 (Standard system copy backup / Restore method)
3. From SAP ECC 6.0 with NW 7.0 SP level 14 & above.(NW 7.0 SR3) to target release ERP 6 EHP6 or 7.

SS
Does anyone have some solution for my issue??
Regards,
Prasad.
Hallo Prasad,
did you run SGEN after applying the support packages??
Maybe the programs are compiling when resulting in long runtimes.
Also don't forget that those times are usually averages over the period of the uptime of the server, hence hey might come down again the longer the systems run.
Regards
Thomas.
Dear Thomas,
Thanks for your reply but SGEN is important step in support pack upgrade and I have successfully run the SGEN in my system.
Are you having any idea about any Average resp time calculation changes happened in the kernel 721 64 bit EXT UC PL 6000??
Regards,
Prasad.
Hallo Prasad,
no, I am not aware of such a change.
Maybe you should look at individual runtimes of selected transactions/reports rather than the overall picture?
As I mentioned those times are usually averages over the period of the uptime of the server. The same applies to the database. E.g. if you run Oracle and your buffers haven't really loaded everything has to be read from disk rather than being already in memory.
Regards
Thomas.
