The precise reply is Yes, it is possible to install EHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0 on non-unicode systems. Unicode conversion is not a prerequisite for EHP4.
I hope your curent ECC6.0 system is only ABAP stack.

I was having the same issue as you.
I was using the latest R3trans 229 - April/2014 for kernel 7.21_EXT UC. So I reverted back to R3trans 201 and Restarted the phase again and It worked for me!!

Hi Roc,
I did the same thing as you! I started with the SPS10 and then My second run was with SPS09. Which is the current one. So the problem wasn't related to SUM, but the R3trans itself. I think even you using the SPS10 and replace back the previous R3trans, it will allow you to continue the patching.

Yeah, thats what I thought so. The only reason why i used latest R3trans was because SUM SP10 won't continue unless R3trans is updated.

Not a problem =)
Once you reach that error, just replace the R3trans back from previous compilation e.g 201 and select INIT to restart the phase.

I'm in the same situation. I'm currently updating solman 7.1 to the last SPS available (SPS 11).
I'm using SUM SP10.
I tried to replace R3trans.exe file located in S:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64 but when I relaunched (with INIT option), it still failed.
Do you have any idea ?

This seems to be issue with the R3trans. Please update the R3trans to a lower version.
Please note that in the phase the R3trans which is being used is from the the directory
../SUM/abap/exe/ , so you need to update the R3trans in this directory.

EHP6-EHP7 Upgrade - Two Instance on same server
Dear All,
We are planning for EHP7 upgrade from EHP6 and we are Windows 2012 with Sybase DB and our Development and Quality are on the same server.
1. Do we need to do anything specific for this upgrade as Dev and Qas both are on same server. ?
2. When I am starting the SUM its detecting the Developement system sap-dev:4239, but how can I start the upgrade for Qas ? which is on the same server

As the SUM update tool is to be launched using the <SID>adm account it should be able to identify the instance to upgrade through the env. variables.
