Hi Rana,

Quick look into the logs explains that export DVDs are not available

Required system resources are missing or not available:

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp1\EXP1' does not exist;

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp1\EXP2' does not exist;

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp1\EXP3' does not exist;

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp1\EXP4' does not exist;

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp1\EXP5' does not exist;

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp1\EXP6' does not exist;

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp2\EXP7' does not exist;

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp2\EXP8' does not exist;

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp2\EXP9' does not exist;

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp2\EXP10' does not exist;

  Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp2\EXP11' does not exist.

Suggestion is to make this path available and then proceed.

Ideally as a best practise we should be copying all the dumps to local drive and performing the installation. Using dumps from a shared path creates lot of issues as the one you faced.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Deepak Kori

os.name = Windows Vista

os.arch = amd64

os.version = 6.0

Do you have a supported OS?

Import directory '\\172.16.3.47\sapsource\export\exp1\EXP1' does not exist;

Is this on the local machine or a drive shared from another machine ?

Hi Rana,

Put your import DVD's to local drive rather than NFS, it should help.

Hi,

Check the work trace file  directory and database alert log file.

Need to check the hardware configuration in the production server and set the parameter file according to sap standards.

check sappfpar check pf=<instance profile> see if there are any errors.

if you found any errors related to ipc/shm_psize* adjust them.

Hi,

Our solution manager is 7.1 version with ST component 710 release and 08 version. Is this suffient to upgrade EHP7 patches?

Yes you can continue with Solution Manager 7.1 SP Stack 8 or can upgarde it with SP11 available at marketplace.

Kindly check SCN link Does ERP 6.0 EhP7 Impact on Solution Manager 7.0 ?

Gaurav

Dear,

As I mentioned above that this level if sufficient and you can do the remaining configuration and you still want to upgrade then apply SPS11.

Hi Folks ,

               I need a small help ,

               here i need to migrate SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 7 from SUSE Linux to AIX and SID is also going to change from ABC to XYZ

               so what is the proposed plan for it

               1. we have to built the target system first ... and go with the import or

               2. after export and import we have to go for SID change ...

Hello

You need to do a Heterogeneous system copy.

Export the source system

Transfer the export dump to the target system

Start the import using SWPM and provide the new SID and the system number

Hi  Reagan ,

In homogeneous system copy its possible , its possible to change SID when you are importing but is it possible for heterogeneous copy to change the SID

here the file system is built with target SID (eg : usr/sap/XYZ , sapmnt/XYZ , oracle/XYZ)

or we have to create the symlinks like oracle/ABC-->oracele/XYZ and then we have to delete the symlinks and change the SID

In homogeneous system copy its possible

I am aware of it. My reply is specific to your question.

You are changing the OS from Linux to AIX and that is why I said Heterogeneous SC.

If you are using the sapinst/SWPM to perform a system (using the export/import method) then it is possible to change the system number and the SID of the system.

You can also use heterogenous copy, just install a blank SAP with your new SID and change the database SID with database tools.

Ofcourse there are several adnavtages of having unicode, but it completely depends upon the management decision whether they are ready to perform it. and also necessity of having UNICODE increases when organisation operates at several locations and supports several languages.

As you rightly said having UNICODE requires extensive testing on ABAP custom codes to make them unicode complaint. But going ahead while when you are integrating JAVA applications in landscape which are only UNICODE you would encounter problems, you would have to perform the upgrade later or otherwise continue with the conventioanl technology.

Unicode has become one of the most essential international standards in the business software world for code pages. All future SAP applications are Unicode enabled. We have noticed that non-Unicode systems face increasing restrictions and imply greater risks.

Thanks Aayush for the clarification.

But I would like to know whether EHP4 upgrade is possible without doing Unicode conversion.

1)ECC system is non-unicode, so does upgrade steps different for systems that are unicode and non-unicode.If so do I require to do unicode conversion before I upgrade the system.

NO. Unicode conersion is not mandatory for upgrading the system to EHP4. But if you want to perform a unicode conversion then you should go for CUUC (Combined Upgrade & Unicode Conversion)

2)Do I need to upgrade the NW version also.Currently I find documents related to NW version 7.01 for ERP 6.0 EHP4?

NO. You need to create a stack file and select the stack level for EHP4 and download the patches and kernel as per the stack.

Start the ugrade with SUM
