Hi, we are currently doing techrefresh. Our existing env. already has saprouter installed and it is working fine with out any issues.

So, my question is for the new systems which is on the same network but on a different subnet also need to have saprouter installed?

Also is saprouter service different from installing saprouter? or both means the same thing? Can i use the existing connection params from  OSS connection in sm59 and put them in the new system sm59 OSS connection? will it work?

Lot of questions tks for claryfying them for me.

All are windows OS by theway

Hello Jack,

Please check the standard link,

SAP Library

As per the SAP.you might have to add additional permissions in SAPROUTTAB.

Anand

Hi,

But this being a techrefresh the old system will be decommissioned once the new systems come-up. Hence the question do I need to have sap-router as service installed on the new system?

Also my aim is to connect to SAP OSN not intranet connection as the article talks about. TKs

Jack,

If the entire environment is refreshed.

Then its ideal practice to go with new saprouter installation.

But before that you can take few steps which would be useful for smooth transition.

Take the backup of SAPROUTTAB file in saprouter.

Install new router. A router service is installed when a sap router is installed.

you can replace your saprouttab file with the one which you took backup, into new saprouter files.

You can point you systems to same SAP OSS connection settings which are existing now.

Anand

Ok, so to reiterate what u said.

I need to install saprouter again on my new system(s).

Take backup of the old saproutab for the each matching old system and replace them in the each matching new system.

And this will be the same systems in SMP? what about the HW Key ? it is definitely going to be different right? Or I can edit them in the system settings?

Yes you need to install new saprouter in new system.Usually it be one sap router.

you don't have to install saprouter in each system.

When you install new systems..i am hoping you will keep old internal IP addresses for the systems. If you are changing the Internal IP address of systems too then you have to change the saprouttab entries too

SAPROUTTAB will be replaced in only saprouter which is only one.

Hardware key comes into picture when you migrate your systems to new hardware. and it does not impact saprouter.

Anand

Tks for the confirmation.

So now what I am confused about is this. Since my old systems already have cert generated, what option should i choose here?

So my existing sap routers can't be used is that right?

Sorry for the stupid question , but my logic is that since I already have the distinguished name registered why I can't use them? and the OU is basically my Installation number for my company, so that wouldn't differ in any way right?

Jack,

As per SAP if following details are same then you can use existing one.

Information about the requested Internet connection (3):

           ( ) SAProuter / SNC via Internet

           ( ) Internet VPN

IP address of VPN gateway: ________________________________

Type of VPN Gateway (name/model): ________________________

Information about the machine with SAProuter (2):

IP address of the SAProuter computer (*): _________________________

Host name of the SAProuter computer (*): _________________________

           (*) this information is mandatory

If there is any change then you should update it to new through SAP oss message.

Hi Jayesh

>We have donwnloaded kernel 7.41 as we are upgrading to EHP 7 ERP 6.0 SP05 which is equvivalent to NW740 SP07.

This is correct. DB2 9.7 should be fine.

Have you solved your issue? Could you share what is the root cause?

SPDD Customer field and Data Loss

Dear experts,

We are upgrading ECC6 EHP from 3 to 7.

While doing SPDD, I have a table that need manual intervention as this standard table has been modified manually based on some OSS notes.

Now SAP seems does not include the OSS notes that I did previously in this upgrade as i think these OSS notes are country based (India).

Therefore, SAP proposed to move these fields to a custom "appends structure".

My question is, if I reset this table to original and then manually re-add to the table, will my data loss after the upgrade?

Note that i am currently in upgrade state and working in SPDD transaction code in Shadow Instance, cannot view the data.

Your advice is very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Sean
