Hello
what is the kernel version in shadow system? is it the same or different than in source system?
All SAP System Switch upgrades are performed with the help of a shadow system which is created with the target release kernel according to the stack file you have created.
The shadow system is where most of the upgrade activities are performed.
The shadow will have the target release information.
i have a system where we run a mock upgrade and notice SVERS has status 702 in shadow and instance wouldn't come up, we thought it was due to kernel incorrect version. source system is on 640 level. isnt it changed in downtime portion only?
Remember that the shadow system is created by copying the main system with the help of DBCLONE jobs. It will run in parallel to the main system.
isnt it changed in downtime portion only?
The downtime phase is not used to update the shadow system kernel. During the downtime the upgrade tool will do a switch of the repository (EU_SWITCH) and kernel (KX_SWITCH) to main system.
